My youngest daughter has her fourth birthday coming up and wanted to give goodie bags to her classmates in preschool. I did not want to go overboard since I dislike the idea of overdoing things for birthdays and raising expectations too much, so I came up with something quick and simple that she could help me make.
We went to the dollar store and picked out some flower puppets for girls and little vehicles for the boys. Each child also gets a dinosaur that will grow in water. Marian helped with the choices with a little assistance from me.
I had the clear cello bags left over from doing Halloween bags, so I did not have to purchase those. The scrapbook paper is scraps left over from a baby album I made for a cousin a few years ago. I cut it into 3 by 4 inch pieces, scored it at 1.5 inches and folded it over the top of the bag, securing with a staple.
Marian put birthday themed stickers on each bag top. These stickers were in my scrapbooking stash as well. I think they were left over from making calendars for grandparents a few years ago.
Now if only Marian had not picked the princess cupcakes at the store as the snack I would have had a very low cost preschool celebration. Oh well, since she is not having a separate party this year, I can live with that. Normally I would just make the birthday treats, but her school currently only allows store bought treats. I think that is because of allergy issues.
